GrassRoutes Team had a day out on Atlantic Drive in Downings during the week. Here’s a short video of pictures taken on the day.
The Atlantic Drive is a spectacular road around the Rosguill Peninsula in North Donegal. The Rosguill Peninsula is a classic example of the rugged Donegal coastline and is situated between Fanad Peninsula to the east and Horn Head to the west – all three peninsulas facing into the mighty Atlantic Ocean.
The Atlantic Drive itself is approximately 12km long. You will appreciate the scenery even more if you cycle this relatively short route.
As you finish the Atlantic Drive you will be looking across to Rosapenna golf links, the hotel ( which is the 19th green ) and Sheephaven Bay beyond. The fine crescent beach in Downings has won a National Blue Flag and attracts many visitors.
